Social Media for Social Good Spotlight: Rosetta Thurman

We’ve mentioned before that Personal Branding is the key to small business success, but let’s add to that; it is the key to success in any career move, including nonprofit work volunteer or paid. Think about it, if you are well known in a community and trusted as a reliable source, wouldn’t people be more willing to donate to your favorite causes and support your fundraising efforts versus a stranger with a tv infomercial?

One great way to establish your expertise or express your thought leadership is through blogging. Blogging is a way to tell your story and set yourself apart in an overcrowded scene.

This Social Media For Social Good Friday we salute Rosetta Thurman. Rosetta is a true pioneer for the nonprofit world; moving from humble administrative positions, to fundraising, to consulting nonprofits and inspiring millennials to become leaders of social change.  Rosetta claims she was a “nobody” (at least on a social influence scale) until she started blogging. Her blogging platform has paved the way to becoming a well sought out speaker and respected resource for honest and straight to the point advice on how to advance your nonprofit career. Her no nonsense blog stirred so much interest in nonprofit career evolution which  led her to co-author  her 1st book How To Become A Nonprofit Rockstar which is an excellent, down to earth read for any level nonprofit professional, including those seeking to explore a career in nonprofit.

If you are looking to understand more about nonprofit leadership and personal branding techniques to explode your career , Rosetta Thurman is a must follow on her platform of choice: Twitter where she shares her thought proving blog posts.
